SANY profile: the Chinese volume champion building Europe’s trust stack piece by piece

China's e-truck sales leader brings 120,000-unit capacity, EVE batteries and the strongest written battery warranty to Europe — plus Putzmeister, Alltrucks and 700+ workshops to answer the service question. The full SANY file.

SANY is the most serious Chinese entrant in European electric trucking, and the reason is not the truck — it is the system being built around the truck.

The hardware. The e263 4×2 tractor leads the European push: 636 kWh of EVE LFP cells on an 800 V architecture, reported consumption of 0.9–1.2 kWh/km at 40 tonnes, and high-power DC charging. Two differentiators stand out on paper: battery size at the top of the class, and the strongest written battery warranty in the segment — 8 years or 1.2 million kilometres with a 70% state-of-health floor. Behind the single model sits scale Europe cannot ignore: SANY’s Changsha plant states e-truck capacity around 120,000 units per year, and the company has delivered some 50,000 electric tractors in China cumulatively — the world’s largest single electric-truck production base.

The trust stack. SANY read the European market’s objections correctly and answered each with a German-flavoured brick: localisation and a parts warehouse via Putzmeister (a name every German fleet already trusts), after-sales coverage through Alltrucks’ 700+ partner workshops, 24/7 roadside assistance, OTA diagnostics, and 6–10-year full-service contracts. Type approval is in hand; German commercial operations started in spring 2026; IAA 2026 (Hanover, September) is flagged for a “big splash” with new models and 2027 previews.

The open questions. Three, and they all cost points on our scorecard today. Price: no published European list price — deals are negotiated per customer, which blocks fleet shortlisting and keeps the TCO dimension unverifiable. References: early customers remain unnamed; registration data will eventually settle what marketing won’t. Network depth: 700 partner workshops is breadth; whether they service high-voltage truck systems at factory standard, country by country, is a field-test question, not a brochure question.

WattTonne’s read. SANY has done the hard, expensive things right — and now faces the cheap, easy thing it’s avoiding: price transparency. The first Chinese OEM to publish a European price list changes the competitive game overnight. Fleets should engage, demand binding quotes and written warranty terms, and measure the truck against the eActros 600 on their own duty cycle.
