Claims, weighed.
Select 2–4 trucks from 26 models — European and Chinese, charging and battery-swap. Get the full spec matrix and the WattTonne Score: seven weighted dimensions, scored 1–5 from cited evidence, totalled to 100. Scores are never for sale, never sponsored, never pre-approved. Export your comparison as PDF for the board meeting.
Methodology — how the WattTonne Score weighs a truck
| Dimension | Weight | What we measure | Evidence accepted |
|---|---|---|---|
| Real-world consumption & performance | 20% | Measured kWh/km at 40 t, winter degradation, charging curve | Fleet telematics, our field tests, published independent tests |
| TCO position | 20% | 5-yr TCO vs diesel benchmark on corridor duty, published model | Quoted prices, energy contracts, toll parameters |
| Price transparency | 10% | Is a list price or binding quote obtainable without NDA? | Published price, dealer quote obtained by us |
| Compliance & market access | 15% | WVTA / national approval status, live deliveries — displayed for all models, never used to gate inclusion | Type-approval documents, registration data |
| Warranty terms | 10% | Battery years/km, SoH floor, exclusions, transferability | Written warranty terms |
| Service network & after-sales | 15% | Workshops near TEN-T corridors, EU parts stock, roadside response, service contracts | Network maps, verified partner agreements |
| Delivery track record | 10% | Units delivered vs orders claimed, named reference customers | Registration data, customer confirmation |
Each dimension is scored 1–5 against published evidence using the criteria below. A dimension with verifiable evidence is scored 1–5; a dimension with insufficient evidence is marked n/a — evidence insufficient and carries no score. The total is the weighted average of scored dimensions only (n/a removed from the denominator), × 20. Evidence completeness (scored dimensions ÷ 7) is shown alongside every total; scores below 60% completeness carry a provisional badge. Method v1.0 (2026-08-14). Method changes are versioned and announced; no score changes retroactively without a public note. Manufacturers may submit evidence or appeal through one public channel: hello@wattonne.com, subject “Scorecard evidence”. Advertising neither accelerates nor influences scoring — see the firewalls on our About page.
Evidence tiers (v1.0): Tier 1 — regulator/WVTA documents, independent media tests (e.g. electrive, transport-online), and public fleet telematics; Tier 2 — OEM official specification pages and written warranty terms (marked “manufacturer data”); Tier 3 — OEM press releases and trade-show claims (leads only, never a scoring basis). Where an independent measurement exists, it takes precedence over OEM-advertised figures; absent a measurement, OEM data is downgraded one tier and the rationale notes “no independent test — downgraded”.
Scores v1.0 reflect the public evidence state of 2026-08-14 and move as field tests and manufacturer evidence arrive. Every scored dimension carries a clickable source link. A low price-transparency or track-record score is a statement about verifiable evidence, not about vehicle quality. Chinese domestic-market figures are manufacturer data unless a measurement source is cited. Models without EU approval are shown for information — never gated out — because committed buyers can pursue national individual approval (IVA).
