Iberdrola launched its first 1 MW MCS chargers in Murcia, Spain, in March 2026 — the first public megawatt truck-charging deployment in Southern Europe, alongside BP Pulse’s announced 1 MW site at Ashford (UK) and new Nordic megawatt sites in Sweden and Denmark.

Geography is the story. Public megawatt truck charging has been a Benelux-and-Nordics affair (Antwerp, Zwolle, Landvetter, Kotka); Murcia extends it to the Mediterranean corridor at a region with heavy port and agricultural logistics. For fleets running Spain routes, it is a first readiness marker — a single site changes little, but utilities like Iberdrola build in portfolios, not singles, and Spain’s motorway corridors are where the next European coverage gaps will close.
