BYD’s European truck strategy will run production through its existing Hungarian bus plant, per Reuters’ March investigation and the company’s May presentations — making Hungary the assembly base for BYD’s eTruck range as its European dealer and service network builds out.

Local assembly is the second half of BYD’s ‘ecosystem, not vehicle’ pitch (the first being Blade Battery LFP cells made in-house): European production blunts tariff exposure, answers procurement teams’ ‘foreign import’ hesitation, and creates the local employment that makes European governments friendlier to a Chinese entrant. It’s the same playbook as SuperPanther’s Austrian assembly — Chinese entrants have concluded that trust infrastructure must be built or bought before volume.
