April answered any remaining doubt about the year’s trajectory: 23,900 new-energy heavy trucks, 30.20% penetration — 2.3× March’s volume. In the wider market (CAAM), total truck sales reached 344,000 units (+7% YoY) with heavy trucks the strongest segment at +33%, the only segment outperforming the market.
The April composition rewarded the project-procurement thesis: bulk deliveries to mining and corridor fleets (C&C Trucks alone reported 2,000+ Q1 deliveries with 1,000+ under contract, growing 410% year-on-year), while replacement-incentive policies kept retail replacement demand flowing. On the year-to-date basis, cumulative NEV penetration crossed 30% for January–April — a full ten points above the same period of 2025.
For European observers, April was the month China’s 2026 stopped being a forecast. The annualised run-rate from Q1 (roughly 3,600 e-trucks in all of the EU in Q1, per ACEA) versus China’s single month of 23,900 is the scale gap in its rawest form — the gap European OEM lobbyists cite when asking Brussels for CO₂-target protection, and the gap that funds Chinese entrants’ European pricing room.
