Dongfeng launches the G-Series — a high-end heavy-truck brand with electric variants

Dongfeng launched its G-Series high-end heavy-duty brand at its 2026 summits, with battery-electric variants in the initial range — completing the upmarket NEV moves of China’s big four (Sinotruk’s new-generation lines, FAW Jiefang’s electric range, Shaanxi/Shacman’s Zhihui/Zhiyuan/Zhihuan series).
Why a brand launch matters to Europe: China’s truck industry is segmenting exactly as Europe’s did decades ago — premium lines for trunk logistics, vocational lines for construction — but doing it electric-first. The G-Series’ positioning (high-end cabs, ADAS, efficiency tech on electric platforms) shows Chinese OEMs preparing to compete on features and brand, not just price, which is the posture they’ll need in Europe’s value-conscious but brand-loyal market.
Dongfeng has been the quietest of the big four internationally; watch whether the G-Series gets an export variant and homologation filing. China’s domestic premiumisation is also margin protection for its makers — and margins are what fund European beachheads, as our Xuzhou case study explains.
