ACEA’s January 2026 commercial-vehicle release opened the year with the EU truck market steady following 2025’s 9.8% growth, van registrations recovering from a weak 2025, and the bus segment continuing its strong run — the unremarkable start to what became the truck market’s strongest growth year in a decade (+9.8% by H1).

The January baseline matters for the electric-share series that our market coverage tracks monthly: electrification percentages only move against a denominator, and early-2026’s stable truck market meant the year’s electric gains (+47.7% by H1) came from genuine volume growth rather than a shrinking base. That distinction matters when comparing with 2025, where part of the percentage jump came from the total market’s dip.
