Mercedes unveils the eActros Lowliner — battery-electric for mega trailers, orders Q3
3 June 2026: the missing link for volume freight — a low fifth-wheel eActros variant (414 or 621 kWh LFP) for maximum-interior-height mega trailers. Orders open Q3 2026 across EU30; production at Wörth from Q2 2027.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks announced the eActros Lowliner at the run-up to IAA: a battery-electric tractor with a low coupling height that lets mega trailers run maximum interior height for volume-intensive freight — boxed goods, furniture, e-commerce. Battery options: 414 or 621 kWh LFP. Orders open Q3 2026 across the EU30 and additional markets; series production at Wörth am Rhein from Q2 2027.
The Lowliner closes a genuine electrification gap: high-volume cube freight couldn’t use standard-platform electric tractors without sacrificing trailer space — one of the last mainstream duty segments without a factory BEV option. For retail and parcel logistics (the depot-first segment driving ~30% of e-truck sales), it turns electrification from ‘possible on some lanes’ to ‘possible across the network’.
Also in the June announcements: Mercedes’ IAA plans include a record attempt with 80 charging columns and content creator Tobias Wagner departing the show on a planned 45,000 km battery-electric circumnavigation in a modified eActros 600 — the confidence-flexing of a market leader whose order book (Simon Loos, NexDash, Dobbe) keeps validating it. For our scorecard, variant breadth is a track-record input: the eActros family (300/400/600/Lowliner) now covers more duty cycles than any rival.
