Einride and Scan Sverige announced a service agreement in June 2026 to provide electric refrigerated freight services in Sweden — Einride’s formal entry into the cold chain, using its electric trucks and the Saga software platform to manage the complex energy demands of temperature-controlled transport.

Refrigeration is one of the hardest electrification problems in trucking: the cooling unit can draw 20–30% additional energy, eating range and complicating charging schedules — which is why cold-chain electrification lags dry freight. A named operator (the Scan group is Sweden’s major food logistics player) running a managed electric reefer service produces exactly the consumption data the segment needs to move from ‘impossible’ to ‘specified’.

Watch for: published kWh/km figures for refrigerated operation (dry-truck benchmarks are useless here), how Saga schedules cooling-versus-driving energy, and whether the model replicates to pharmaceutical logistics — the other high-value cold segment.
