FAW Jiefang: NEV sales growth above 200% — China’s oldest truck maker accelerates its electric pivot
FAW Jiefang’s new-energy truck sales grew by more than 200% year-on-year through 2026, per company and industry reporting — the state group’s slow-start NEV programme now compounding from a small base into volume.

FAW Jiefang — China’s original truck maker (1956) and perennial top-three group — reported new-energy commercial vehicle growth exceeding 200% year-on-year through 2026, accelerating from a modest base as its dedicated NEV product line (J6P EV tractors, dump and mixer variants) hit volume production and fleet channels.
The growth rate needs the usual base-effect caveat: 200%+ on small numbers is easier than on SANY’s or XCMG’s volumes. But it marks a strategic threshold: FAW Jiefang’s diesel-era scale (its J6/J7 lines are among China’s best-sellers) is now being pointed at electrification with state-group resources — dealer network depth that startups can’t match, and bulk procurement relationships with state-owned logistics and mining groups.
For European watchers: FAW Jiefang is a ‘watch tier’ entrant — huge domestic fleet, no EU homologation announced. Its NEV acceleration is another datapoint that China’s electrification is system-wide, not a few pioneers: by mid-2026 every major Chinese truck group reports triple-digit NEV growth or leading share. The competitive wave forming for Europe has many hulls.
