ICCT’s Q1 2026 market monitor confirms the year opened with momentum intact: electrically-chargeable trucks at 4.4% of EU registrations (~3,600 units on ACEA’s Q1 total of 81,766), zero-emission buses and coaches at 24.2% (2,732 units vs 1,816 a year earlier), and battery-electric city buses at 55% of segment sales.

The country texture continues to tell the incentive story: Sweden led mature markets on the bus side at 61.6% share, the Netherlands 56.8%, with Lithuania and Romania above 50% — Northern and incentive-rich Europe pulling, Southern Europe trailing. BloombergNEF’s Electric Vehicle Outlook 2026, cited alongside, projects e-buses heading for 60% of the global market by 2030 with 20+ countries already past 50% electric city-bus sales.

For fleet planners, the quarterly cadence is the number to track rather than annual totals: sustained quarters at 4–5% make 2026 full-year share of 5–6% arithmetic — and keep the market on the trajectory ICCT needs for its 2030 parc projection of 290,000–340,000 electric trucks. Our market-data coverage tracks the series quarterly.
