Renault Trucks doubles down on diesel too: T High 2027 with DE13 R engine to premiere at IAA
1 July 2026: alongside its electric flagship, Renault Trucks will world-premiere the T High 2027 with a new DE13 R diesel (−4% fuel and CO₂, up to 540 hp) — the industry’s honest hedge: electrify everything you can, keep improving diesel for the rest.

Renault Trucks’ IAA announcement pairs the E-Tech T 780 electric flagship with a world premiere in the other direction: the T High Model Year 2027 powered by the new DE13 R diesel — up to 540 hp and 2,800 Nm, 4% lower fuel consumption and CO₂ than the previous generation, with a new Optidriver gearbox and strengthened engine brake. The 923 m² Hall 21 stand will also show the E-Tech D 14T urban truck (<7.3 m turning radius), an E-Tech Master Offroad, and a Flexis-platform next-generation electric van.
The dual launch is the industry’s honest posture in one stand: electrify every duty cycle that closes on TCO, keep cutting diesel’s cost and emissions for the cycles that don’t yet. Renault Trucks is explicit that diesel customers aren’t being abandoned as electrification matures — a message fleet CFOs planning mixed fleets through 2030 should note, because it means diesel residuals have manufacturer support for longer than the most aggressive transition scenarios assume.
Our duty-cycle guidance stands: the question is never diesel-or-electric as ideology, but per-route economics. A −4% diesel and a 660 km electric launching on the same stage is the industry agreeing with us.
